Plus Gallery’s Donald Fodness is certainly one of the most admired artists in Denver’s contemporary community, and also one very much in demand. His work can be found in three exhibitions this fall, two within Colorado and a third in Ohio. “From Here and There” is the continuation of the group exhibition that brings together several artists from Colorado with artists from Wales (originally shown in Wales this past summer). Fodness is joined by fellow Plus Gallery artists Bill Amundson and Melissa Furness, along with several other Colorado based contemporary artists with a distinct selection of works on paper that challenge our notions of what drawing is and can be today. The show goes on view in Fort Collins at the Clara Hatton Gallery at CSU’s Visual Arts Building, with an opening reception slated for Friday, September 26th from 6-8pm (and preceded by an artist talk that afternoon at 5pm).
Fodness then teams up with Marina Eckler for the two-person show “Great Expectations” hosted by our friends at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Colorado Springs. Both artists will create site-specific installations for the exhibit, which refers to an artist’s intervention in a specific locale. Save the date of Friday October 3rd for the opening reception and artist talks, beginning at 5pm. The exhibition will remain on view through November 15th.
And finally, Fodness will have seven of his recent drawings on view in a three-person show in October at the Center for Visual Arts at the University of Toledo, including his most recent work included in Plus Gallery’s summer blockbuster “Super Human.” We’ll have more information regarding this exhibition in a later newsletter.
