Plus Gallery artist Frank T. Martinez exhibits new paintings from his latest Series 7 at Space Gallery in the five person show Modern Structure alongside artists Howard Hersh, Krista Valbonas, Steven Baris and Jodie Roth Cooper. Martinez’ participation in the exhibition is in association with Plus Gallery and is sure to be one of the more prominent displays of hard-edged abstraction of the year. Space is an enormous and beautiful gallery that has been an anchor within the Santa Fe Arts District for over a decade, although now serving more as an entry-way to the District and positioned more as its own distinct island compound.

Martinez’ latest works will entrance his growing fan-base as he pushes further with experimental tangents that weave exciting new materials into his work and re-introduces bold injections of color in a unique and masterly fashion. The latest works truly fold together everything Martinez has worked with to date, combining layering within abstraction, intense attention to surface and a new rethinking of dimensional boundaries.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday evening May 19th from 6 -9pm. It will remain on view through July 2nd.

Space is located at 400 Santa Fe Drive. Gallery Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 11am – 5pm and Saturday from 10am – 3pm.

Martinez’ inclusion in Modern Structure coincides with Plus Gallery’s latest publication, a survey of the Frank’s outstanding first decade as a professional artist. Order and Chaos – A Decade of Paintings is the first publication to document the singular, absorbing career of this Colorado native and self taught painter. Martinez has built a substantial following based on a dedicated, highly tuned studio practice that has served as one of the most successful focal points within the Plus Gallery family of artists. Through seven exceptional bodies of work Martinez has become a leading example of the dynamic possibilities within the realm of abstract expressionism and contemporary painting today.

The publication is the second in a new series of artist monographs produced by Plus Gallery through advanced online system that merges quality design with today’s on-demand printing technology, in a large-scale format but affordably priced.
