ARTISTS RECEPTION TONIGHT, FEBRUARY 12TH FOR "PARALLELED" FEATURING JOHN McENROE

The Philip J. Steele Gallery at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design is hosting a reception this evening, Tuesday February 12th from 6-9pm for the exhibition "Paralleled," the first curatorial endeavor for new gallery director Courtney Stell.  Widely considered the premier arts institution in the state of Colorado, RMCAD has recently installed new flooring in order to enhance the presentations in the Steele Gallery, a wise move that makes this new exhibition stronger than any previous.  The real standouts in this excellent view of seven are the new sculptures by Plus Gallery artist John McEnroe.  We have long championed John as one of the true innovators in the state, an artist who continually sets the scene on its edge with works that tease uncommonly seductive art out of common materials.  His latest compositions for "Paralleled" derive from his most recent public commission for the city of Denver, the highly sought and visible Highlands Bridge Project.  They are tremendously captivating and as visually clever as anything the artist has created to date.  We expect to see the future open up for John as a result, and encourage everyone to make a trip to see these courageous works in a wonderful setting.  RMCAD is located at 1600 Pierce Street directly north of Casa Bonita!  For more information, visit www.rmcad.edu
