Holiday shopping tips from + gallery
Does original artwork make a great holiday gift? That depends on how much you like someone, but it is highly advised, a gift that provides a thread to community and careers that last a lifetime. Of course we highly recommend all of our artists, but would like to point out a few specific recommendations that may come in handy. For those who are perennially late with their buying, a Colin Livingston original from his series "Palettes, Patterns, Logos and Slogans" will provide you with not just an original painting that the giftee can sign upon completion, but also a t-shirt, bucket of paint, sharpie marker and other accouterments that are part of this extraordinary body of work. Remember how cheap Warhol's were when he first started? All you have to do is fill out his handy order form and you are on your way, find out more by visiting our intern-curated exhibition tonight which features two "Livingston" from New American Paintings.
Karen McClanahan presented us with a series of silkscreen works on paper during her recent gorgeous exhibit here last month, and only a handful of people actually viewed these treasures. They are small, affordable, and true gems for anyone with discerning taste in art.
Gabriel Liston is always a favorite this time of year, and we have a healthy inventory of his "Blue Tile" works that retail for a mere $150 and make the perfect stocking stuffer. Liston will be exhibiting new paintings here at the gallery starting in January, so this is also the perfect introduction to his artistic genius and a career in the making.
Our current exhibition "A Better Life" features affordable gift items courtesy of Jon Rietfors, with a series of Natural Serenity Plates that feature bold statements about life and feature products that may already be under your tree. The major works in his knockout exhibition are also available as studies on paper at an affordable price, making a great addition to anyone with an interest or collection of works on paper.
There is a lot more to discover, and shopping at the gallery is profoundly easy, our elves, er....interns are more than happy to show you the stacks and other treasures that lie in waiting in the front and back rooms of the gallery. Those who truly enjoy last minute shopping will want to mark Friday December 22nd on their calendars, as that is when we'll host our annual "gallery-made egg-nog" holiday party in celebration of the last day open of the year. This year will be doubly special as it will also serve to send us off on our journey to Miami for Art Miami 2007. Festivities and enlightenment start at 2pm that day......
