+ gallery director Gilbert I. Barrera moving into Museum realm

2005 has been a thoroughly challenging and terrific year for the gallery, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our success. Through four-plus short years in the business, we have maintained the highest quality of exhibitions and standards that have resonated throughout the community and defined our vision. We conclude 2005 extremely close to our break-even goal, with plenty of spare momentum to carry us into the new year. 2006 promises to be one of the most exciting years for the gallery as a result, as Denver itself unveils a new world class museum and many people in the arts community strategize a pitch for national recognition. Change, however, will also occur within the gallery as our beloved director Gilbert I. Barrera steps down from his post here and moves into a terrific new position with Denver's Museo de Las Americas. The Museo is the first museum in our region that is dedicated to educating the public about the artistic and cultural achievements of Latinos in the Americas on a continuing basis. Gilbert is a natural fit there, and his acceptance of a position with the organization a natural transition in his career, not to mention another achievement for the gallery during a year in which achievement rang strong for us. As many of you know, Gilbert was more than just a hired hand at the gallery. He was a friend and confidant that made the operation a special place for us all. His shoes will be difficult to fill and he will be greatly missed, though will still be a positive force for promoting the gallery and our artists always. With such a strong foundation having been set through his efforts, the gallery looks to continue and foster an environment which artists and the community will always consider the best of its kind. + gallery wishes everyone the best as the year closes and look forward to an invigorating new year! Viva la Gilberto! Viva la plusgallery!
